Plant Japanese onions
Plant Japanese onion sets, also known as autumn-sown onions, for a super-early crop of golden bulbs a month sooner than maincrop types. Good varieties to try are red 'Electric' or ever-reliable 'Senshyu Yellow'. Press the miniature bulbs into well-prepared soil about 15cm apart so the neck is at ground level.
